 EXCELSIOR MOTOR COMPANY

Inventions in the world where they are closely related to their inventors, On the other hand, they have a much deeper relationship with those who promote it. Who from time to time continue to play their part in innovating and advancing that invention and maintaining a special significance of that invention over time.

One such invention and how to promote it will be mentioned in our blog today
Sir, today we are talking about Excelsior Motor, A company that promotes the innovation of Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach.

The company was founded in 1874 in Coventry, England as Bay-Lis.
In its early days, the company was instrumental in the development of Penny Feathering bicycles. The company later developed bicycles under the name Excelsior Motor Company.

In 1910, in the early days of the invention of the motorcycle, the company introduced a wide range of motorcycles, including the Minerva, De Dion, MMC and Condor 850cc.

Later, after the end of World War I, the company was sold to Reginald and his son Eric, who belonged to the Walker family.

And Excelsior Motor Co. relocated to Birmingham The company's factory in Coventry was sold to Frances & Burnett Co.

Excelsior Motor Company entered the world of racing with the participation of the B-14 motorcycle in the lightweight race held in 1929 and achieved significant success in this race which significantly increased the popularity of this model.

The 1933 race was joined by a motorcycle known as the Mechanical Marvel, which gained prominence throughout the continent due to its high speed, but unfortunately due to its very complex structure, this motorcycle survived for a long time. Could not keep and a year later in 1934 its manufacturing was stopped.

To fill the gap created by the failure of the mechanical Marvel, the company introduced a new model called the Man-X-Man in 1935. The model participated in various races over a three-year period from 1935 to 1937.

However, due to some technical glitches, it did not succeed and its preparations were stopped before the race was held in 1938.

(Here we must mention to our esteemed readers the victory of  Man X man, who won a remarkable victory in front of a crowd of 200,000 in the European GP Race held in Germany in 1936.)

After the end of World War II, the company introduced the Viking 250cc motorcycle using Villiers engines, which was later introduced in 1949 by the Excelsior Motor Company with its own engines, followed by the Twin-Crab Sports version, Which could not be sold in large numbers.

In 1919, the Excelsior Motor Company played a key role in the manufacture of cars, introducing a symbolic car with three wheels and an air-cooled engine.
And the following year, in 1920, he set foot in the field of car manufacturing with the introduction of a wide range of four-wheeled cars under the name of Bay-Lis Thomas.

Excelsior Car

Excelsior Motor Company manufactured its last motorcycle in 1964 and the company ceased operations the following year in 1965. Later in 1970, the company was sold to the British-based Britax company.

As we have mentioned in our previous blog, the companies that were formed in the early days could not survive for a long time, the reasons for which are obvious.
